The New Zealand First Party is promising to end currency speculation by de-floating the dollar. The New Zealand First party has been gearing up for the election next year at its conference in Christchurch over the weekend.

Leader Winston Peters released new policies, including a proposal to manage our free-floating dollar within a set range.

Leader Winston Peters says the practice works well in other places, including Singapore.

Mr Peters says currency speculators have been the only people to gain from the float of the dollar - with business and exporters paying the cost.
