Munich’s Commercial Sector Rivals That of Berlin

Although many would think that Berlin would be the city of choice for basing a business operation in Germany, in fact Munich has much to offer in competition.

Renting in the commercial sector in Munich means that you can take advantage of a great choice of serviced offices in modern and well maintained buildings. Investors will also be an active part of the strongest economy of any city in Germany.

A historically strong financial standing has long been identified with the city, and together with Germany’s current dominant position in the Eurozone economic situation, Munich makes a great choice for those looking both for a good deal and to be at the centre of the action.

Business Weekly magazine has awarded Munich the top score in their comparative surveys many times, and the presence of headquarters in the city for BMW, Siemens AG and many other major international corporations points towards the level of success the city enjoys amongst businesses.

The strength of the city also lies in the diversification of the companies that chose it as their base. Technology industries, service industries, aeronautics, biotechnology firms and software companies are all well represented.

Major American corporations such as McDonald’s and Microsoft all have their European headquarters in the city.

Germany’s strong employment levels and a stable economy, even in the midst of the turmoil that some other European countries are experiencing, means that the commercial property market remains healthy.

In fact, Munich has the lowest unemployment rate of any German city, with under 6% of the city’s residents unemployed.

Munich is second only to Frankfurt in the financial sector, with HypoVereinsbank taking up a large footprint in the city. Creative industries are also well represented, as shown by the world’s largest publishing firm, Random House, choosing the city for its German HQ.
